What is NCPT?

NCPT is the acronym for “Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher.” To achieve this certification, you must complete and certify in a Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Program recognized by the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP). The program must include at least 450 hours of training in Mat, Reformer, Chair, Cadillac, and Barrels Pilates, anatomy and special population study, hours of observation, personal practice, and student teaching. Once the hours are completed, the student must pass a written and rigorous practical exam in order to become certified with the Pilates school/program. After successfully completing the exams and gaining certification from the Pilates program, the student is then eligible to take the NCPT exam to become nationally certified.

Because it’s a national certification, instructors must continue their study and learning by completing continuing education credits in order to keep their credential current.

Becoming a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher requires a deep personal commitment to Pilates and to helping clients move well.
